Overview
AIIR Environmental hired for the removal, handling, and compliant disposal of significant volumes of oily washings generated during intensive cleaning operations.
Given the scale, time constraints, and continuous nature of the works, the project demanded robust logistics planning, constant site presence, and fully licensed waste management solutions.
Scope of Works
- Removal of oily sludge and contaminated washings generated during platform cleaning
- Provision and management of a bulk holding tank left on site
- 24/7 emptying and changeover of waste streams over a 5-day period
- Transportation and licensed disposal of all waste material
- On-site supervision and coordination with Elite Blasting Solutions and port authorities
Key Challenges
- High Volume: Approximately 250 tonnes of oily sludge generated within a short timeframe
- Continuous Operations: Cleaning activities ran around the clock, requiring uninterrupted waste uplift capability
- Logistics Management: Ensuring sufficient on-site storage capacity at all times to prevent operational downtime
- Regulatory Compliance: Secure, compliant transport and disposal of oily waste streams
OUR SOLUTION
AIIR Environmental implemented a fully managed waste strategy built around operational continuity and compliance. A bulk tank was installed on site to act as a buffer, allowing cleaning activities to continue without interruption. This tank was then emptied continuously, day and night, using a coordinated tanker rota.
A dedicated AIIR Project Supervisor was permanently based on site, ensuring clear communication, rapid decision-making, and seamless integration with the clients operations.
All waste was directed to fully licensed disposal outlets following appropriate due diligence, ensuring environmental and regulatory compliance throughout the project.
